    One of Portugal's great pousadas.

    Everything perfect!

Beautiful hotel with fantastic views of snow capped mountains. Private car park within the castle walls. Surrounded by a park, great for an evening walk. Restaurant excellent with vegetarian menu and not expensive.

    Superb

Great view. Nice terrace for coffee. Nice location in less-traveled small town. Parking safe and easy. Nice place for a stopover on the way out of Madrid.

Food in the restaurant was expensive and not any good. Not many alternatives in town.

    Good

Its an old palace converted to hotel with all the necessarities commodities.

    Superb

A beautiful romantic building near an old castle, with a very quiet, comfortable and spacy room. Spacy free parking. Excellent breakfast, much choice. Quality of diner was reasonable

The hotel had connections for internet for guests who brought their own lap top but unlike other Paradores did not offer the use of a stand-alone PC.

Everything, the Parador is unbelievably beautiful! The experience was unique, we attended a dress rehearsal for the medieval festival in the castle.

    Fabulous

I enjoyed the location and castle.

Yes, I was unable to control the heat in the room and the room was extremely warm.

The only criticism of this place is the cost of the restaurant; particularly the breakfast.

    The castle

If restaurant staff spoke more english, that would have been nice, but hey - you are in Spain.

  • 9.2
    Superb

The Parador itself is a castle, so i guess you could not ask for more. The rooms are spacious and the pool is nice (open in september).

In terms of location, this parador is in the villages centre. However, if you plan on going hiking in the sierra de gredos, keep in mind it is a two hour drive to the main hiking trails.

    Very good

Very comfortable, spacious room with all the facilities we needed. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a well-cooked and well-presented dinner at a reasonable price.

Check in was a little protracted and not very welcoming. There was no offer with assistance for luggage, and the hike from reception to the room was no little distance.

    Fabulous

In a good location for our trip across Spain. Very clean, staff good, not much English spoken, so communication problems at times. Excellent value for money.

The church/tower bells that rang all night on the side of the hotel in which we were. Too bad, as it is so quiet there otherwise :)

  • 9.2
    Superb

The parador itself, the surroundings and the town of Oropesa

Disappointed that some of the bar staff were less than helpful, even to the point of one denying they offered service on the terrace! But only two out of all those we encountered.

  • 7.4
    Very good

This is a wonderful historic sight. Would have been great if there was a detailed history fact sheet (in English) to take away. The restaurant dinner was fabulous and cost more than the accommodation.

The room air-conditioning was insufficient to cool the room and subsequently it was difficult to sleep in 26 deg c conditions.
